Where we are

The archeological zone of Chichen is just 3 kilometers away,   which makes it very convenient to go to visit during the day and at night to go to see the  "light and sound show", which features at the site every night.

Ikil is just one hour and half of Merida, "the White City" and 2 1/2 hours away from Cancun.

Balankanche caves are 5 kilometers away. These caves were a Mayan Ceremony Sacred place.

Valladolid, the second largest city in Yucatan is a nice colonial city, with it's "Paseo de los Frailes' and the imponent San Bernardino Convent. San Gervasio church adorns the city Zocalo, and the Mestizas at the Zocalo, sell all sorts of  colorful hammocks, "hipiles" and other beautifuly embroidered dresses and other typical souvernirs.

Ek Balam is 26 kilometers from Valladolid and it's a well worth it trip to visit this archeological site.  If staying in IKIL, you can combine a trip to Valladolid and Ek Balam and then come to rest and enjoy the night in our nicely decorated palapas.

Izamal is 50 minutes away  from Ikil and it is a must see place:  It's imponent majestic convent build by Fray Diego de Landa and the Franciscans in 1549,  has the second largest atrium in the world after Sint Peters at the Vatican.  It was the place where the late Pope John Paul II, gave mass every time he came to Mexico. 

This small city is unique and colorful.

Valladolid: San Bernardino's Convent

The Paseo de los Frailes is a must to visit in this city.





Ek Balam ruins

These ruins are much smaller than Chichen Itza but interesting and less crowded.

Izamal's famous Franciscan Convent

The Polish Pope Johanness Paulus II, used to perfom mass in this place every time he visited Yucatan.
